The event formed part of Lights, Camera, Liberty!, a program run by the Atlas Network and Taliesin Nexus. The Atlas Network is located in Washington D.C., and is a nonprofit organization connecting a global network of more than 400 free-market organizations in over eighty countries to the ideas and resources needed to advance the cause of freedom and free enterprise.

Taliesin Nexus is based in Los Angeles, and helps promising filmmakers by leveraging a network of Hollywood professionals to create educational opportunities. They organize workshops, internships, and other events that bring together talented creators who can network and learn from each other. They also partner with the Atlas Network to provide film-making education and guidance to organisations that support freedom and free enterprise.

Matt Warner (Vice President of Programs and Institute Relations at the Atlas Network) and Patrick Reasonover and Jessica Andes (from Taliesin Nexus) flew into Johannesburg to host the three-day workshop. Members from the South African Institute of Race Relations (IRR), NEASA, Free Market Foundation and Ineng were in attendance. The workshop covered the basics of video planning, production and strategic marketing and provided the hosts provided a great deal of expertise and knowledge for those in attendance.
